Well what can I say, my sister is an absolutely gorgeous bride! And her groom ain’t too shabby either! 😉 I’d love to share their love story, it’s so cute!
Lisa grew up in Oklahoma and graduated high school there. Dallin grew up in San Diego then during high school moved to Utah. When he turned 19 he decided to go on a Mormon mission–meaning he would dedicate two years of his young life to missionary service. Just a quick little Mormon lesson here–“serving” a mission literally means dedicating two years! So no dating, no going out, no talking to your friends and family on the phone (except to your mom on mother’s day and your family on Christmas), you pay your own way, and you literally eat and sleep missionary work–teaching, serving, planning, studying. You don’t choose where you go on your mission! You are assigned an area. Many missionaries learn another language as part of their experience! Imagine the immense personal, spiritual growth these young men and women achieve! My husband always describes his mission to Brazil as the worst and best two years of his life.
Anyways, Dallin ended up serving his mission in Oklahoma. My parents met him as he taught some of their friends and ate dinner with him. They were very impressed with Dallin, as were many other people in the area! Lisa never met Dallin while he was on his mission.
Fastforward. Lisa graduated and started school at BYU. A common friend of Lisa and Dallin’s who was also from Oklahoma introduced them. According to the told story, Dallin asked Lisa to go to Real Salt Lake (pro soccer) game with him as a first date. Lisa DECLINED because she was already going to a BYU football game with her friends. Dallin expressed to me later that he never thought it would work out if she was choosing football and friends over soccer and him! (Dallin is a soccer player at BYU and intends to go pro in a couple years!) He gave up on dating Lisa immediately, however, he invited her to a party he was throwing soon after. Apparently he was trying real hard to “work-it” with another girl, but Lisa was around throwing his game off. After that they started dating, and in just three short months they knew they were supposed to be together forever and got engaged!
Lucky for me, they decided to get married in San Diego! It was close to home for me, even though the rest of my family was spread out over Oklahoma, Texas and Utah. Lucky for me again, I got lots of wonderful visitors.
Check out their adorableness.
Great photos, Angie!
